The Merchandising Associate plays a crucial role in managing the merchandising activities for designated categories. This position contributes to the formulation of business objectives, attainment of sales and profit targets, execution of merchandising strategies, and provision of analytical support, insights, and recommendations to the merchandise team.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborating on the creation of sales and profit plans along with sales forecasts for assigned categories.
  • Overseeing and managing open-to-buy positions and procuring merchandise for designated categories.
  • Engaging in direct negotiations with suppliers regarding merchandise pricing, quantities, delivery schedules, and terms.
  • Identifying and applying merchandise packaging and presentation methods that boost productivity and execution.
  • Evaluating merchandise assortments based on consumer trends and business requirements to develop planograms and provide assortment recommendations.
  • Analyzing advertising and promotional performance metrics to assess effectiveness, refine merchandise strategies, and suggest necessary adjustments.
  • Implementing category pricing strategies and executing exit plans for underperforming items.
  • Assessing pricing strategies based on competitive analysis, sales, and profit objectives, as well as price indexing and targets.
  • Researching market trends and consumer behavior to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Identifying merchandising risks and opportunities, presenting actionable recommendations.
  • Providing effective guidance and support to Merchant Assistants.
  • Carrying out additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or operations-related discipline
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in merchandising or retail operations
  • Proficient in vendor negotiation techniques
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment
