Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Technician to join our team at Long Island Community Hospital. As an OR Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient care of patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and reliable patient care by maintaining aseptic and sterile environments.
  • Assist surgeons and other medical staff by assembling and passing instrumentation and supplies.
  • Clean, stock, and maintain all instrumentation and supplies.
  • Participate in infection control principles to ensure patient, self, and staff safety.
  • Collaborate with the OR team to ensure smooth and efficient surgical procedures.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologists.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist credential administered by a nationally accredited surgical technologist credentialing organization.
  • Ability to lift equipment and supplies up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for 70-90% of the day.
  • Dexterous with fine or intricate instruments.
  • Ability to prioritize, anticipate, and alter activities throughout the day.
  • Mature interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to cope with frequent risk of exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Current BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active AST certification.
  • 2 years of operating room experience or trauma experience.
