Job Summary:

The Licensed Veterinary Technician will lead and mentor the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility, adhering to hospital policies and procedures while delivering medical care to patients as permitted by the veterinary practice act.

The Technician will communicate effectively with colleagues and clients, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Administer patient care under the supervision of a veterinarian.

Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case-related information in patient records using appropriate terminology and grammar.

Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.


Address clients' inquiries regarding basic animal care and routine procedures; confidently manage medical questions and refer to veterinarians when necessary.


Qualifications:
Skills and Attributes Required:

Proficiency in a range of skills including laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing techniques.

Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations, effectively managing a fast-paced environment.

Capability to maintain composure during medical emergencies.

Skill in administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.


Knowledge of medication usage, dosages, and common side effects, with the ability to explain these to clients.


Understanding of anesthesia and recovery protocols, with the ability to alert veterinarians to changes in symptoms or concerns with hospitalized patients.

Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature, and recover patients from anesthesia.


The individual must possess cognitive skills for reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language (reading, writing, and speaking) to perform duties proficiently.

The individual must be comfortable around animals.
