Job Overview

Scrap Metal Services, LLC is looking for a dedicated Safety Coordinator to enhance our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations. The Safety Coordinator will focus on elevating safety standards at our operational sites, aiming for zero incidents and injuries.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership in Safety: Spearhead the ongoing enhancement of the site's environmental, health, and safety performance. Collaborate with leadership to develop and uphold safety programs and policies aligned with our core values, prioritizing safety above all.
  • Risk Assessment: Proactively identify potential EHS risks by evaluating environmental and operational conditions. Provide insights on new equipment and procedures, investigate violations, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Training and Development: Foster a culture of safety by creating and implementing safety systems, policies, and procedures. Conduct training sessions for managers, employees, and new hires, ensuring comprehensive recordkeeping of all training activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all EHS standards by interpreting regulations and advising management on necessary actions to maintain compliance.
  • Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular safety inspections and audits, documenting findings and providing feedback to management and staff.
  • Communication: Coordinate EHS communications, liaising with enforcement agencies and managing related reporting requirements.
  • Contractor Oversight: Mitigate risks associated with contractors and vendors through effective training and oversight.
  • Cost Management: Identify opportunities for cost savings while maintaining safety standards, treating company expenses with the same care as personal finances.
  • PPE Management: Maintain adequate levels of personal protective equipment (PPE) and manage the ordering and tracking process.
  • Incident Documentation: Accurately document and maintain records of all EHS incidents, ensuring timely investigations and corrective actions.
  • First Aid Certification: Be certified in first aid, CPR, and AED to provide immediate assistance to injured personnel.
  • Management Collaboration: Work closely with the management team to align with safety policies and company goals, addressing issues that require further attention.
  • Environmental Reporting: Oversee the completion of environmental reports and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of four years of experience in a safety coordination role.
  • Experience in an industrial setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build professional relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
