Position Overview

The Software Quality Assurance Specialist I will engage in hands-on activities and serve as a vital information resource regarding designated responsibilities to fellow Quality Assurance personnel. This role requires leadership skills for managing multiple intricate projects. The individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and recommending modifications to new functionalities and features to enhance test plans and develop evaluation processes. Close collaboration with Developers and Project Managers will be essential in defining and designing performance testing requirements. Additionally, the Specialist will guide other engineers to ensure comprehensive test coverage and optimal test performance prior to product release.
The Specialist will also oversee action items such as coordinating each project's schedule (entry & approval) and test plan, while reporting potential risk factors to internal teams, including any blocking issues that may arise before the product launch or carrier entry date.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Research and Development to implement new standards and modifications related to specifications and/or carrier-specific requirements.
  • Utilize technical engineering expertise to comprehend customer applications, test cases, and requirements, while effectively working with teams across different time zones.
  • Work autonomously, determining the approach to tasks, with supervision based on milestone achievements and critical deliverables.
  • Identify necessary documentation and processes for projects, assisting in the creation of design requirements.
  • Analyze test data and reports to verify that designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Partner with engineering teams to assess the interface between hardware and software products.
  • Diagnose protocol and system-level issues from carriers, filtering and debugging reported issues, and supervising IOT and field tests through detailed log analysis.
  • Manage and mentor junior engineers and third-party engineers to perform required testing tasks.
  • Provide one-on-one technical and process training to fellow engineers.
  • Create and update technical documentation, test processes, and work process documents.
  • Understand requirements and core functionalities of new features from Samsung and competitors.
  • Responsible for developing new test cases and validating various test scenarios to ensure accuracy and performance of new features.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, ideally in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Over 5 years of experience in the wireless sector, preferably in Mobile Quality Assurance.
  • Demonstrated experience in the QA lifecycle, including test planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience with wireless technologies such as GSM, CDMA, WCDMA, LTE, 5G, and Radio Interface.
  • Familiarity with 5G technologies, including mmWave, Sub6, and Beamforming, is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of LTE features, including VoLTE, ViLTE, VoWiFi, RCS messages, and OTA Activation.
  • Proficient in using log capturing and processing tools such as QXDM, QCAT, QPST, and others.
  • Experience with Spirent/Metrico tools like NOMAD, MUSE, and Datum.
  • In-depth knowledge of advanced LTE features, including QAM, LAA, Carrier Aggregation, MIMO, and BeamForming.
  • Expertise in IMS SIP (Session Initiated Protocol), VoLTE, and IR94 call processing.
  • Able to conduct tests in driving conditions and travel as required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Core competencies in Java and/or C#, with familiarity in scripting languages such as Python for writing test automation code.
  • Ability to perform under time constraints and manage stress associated with periodic deadlines and project management challenges.
