Legal Counsel Opportunity

The Alliance for Downtown New York, Inc. is seeking a skilled lawyer to support the Legal Department as a part-time employee. Reporting to the General Counsel, the successful candidate will be responsible for drafting routine contract documents, assisting departments with requests for proposals, and reviewing licenses and other documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute routine contract documents and agreements
  • Collaborate with departments to discuss and support Downtown Alliance programming
  • Review and verify certificates of insurance from vendors
  • Assist in managing litigation and overseeing summons disposal
  • Support the General Counsel in preparing memoranda and letters, and conducting legal research

Requirements:

  • J.D. degree and at least five years of legal experience
  • Membership in good standing in the New York bar, or eligibility to practice law in New York
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with a minimum of two days on-site per week

Benefits and Compensation:

Employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as paid leave and retirement benefits. Salary will be calculated based on the number of hours worked per week, with a pay range from $58/hr to $70/hr.
