Payroll Assistant III

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Assistant III to join our team at Essential Utilities, Inc. This role is responsible for preparing and distributing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for assigned divisions, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll timesheets, work orders, and payroll adjustments in the payroll system.
- Verify pay rates and deductions to ensure compliance with company policy, union contracts, and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze and audit time sheet data to identify exceptions and ensure accurate payroll processing.
- Respond to payroll inquiries and provide guidance to employees on pay or time discrepancies.
- Update and maintain payroll policies and procedures, and ensure compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reconciliation documentation of payroll data to general ledger account balances.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns, and process voluntary employee deductions.
- Associate's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of payroll experience.
- Expert knowledge of payroll processing systems and regulations.
- Excellent Excel and spreadsheet skills, with experience in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
This role requires deskbound work, with occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds. The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
