Job Title: Special Education Teacher

At International High School of New Orleans, we are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with exceptionalities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to promote students' academic, physical, and social development.
  • Collaborate with regular education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Provide instruction in small and large groups, using data to inform instruction and drive student achievement.
  • Monitor student behavior and maintain accurate records of student progress and development.
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Louisiana Special Education Teaching Certification or evidence of eligibility.
  • 2+ years of teaching experience in a high school environment (preferred).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of relevant technology and ability to use it to support instruction.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in a language other than English (preferred).
  • Strong work ethic and effective multi-tasking and time management skills.

The Special Education Teacher will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, collaborating with a diverse team of educators and support staff. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team, communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
