Job Title: Associate Provost for the Arts and Culture

The Provost and Senior Vice President of Oklahoma State University invites nominations and applications for the inaugural Associate Provost for the Arts and Culture. This is a unique opportunity to lead and shape the arts and culture initiatives at OSU, working closely with the Provost, faculty, and staff to advance the university's mission and goals.

Job Summary:

The Associate Provost for the Arts and Culture will provide strategic leadership and vision for the OSU Museum of Art, the Doel Reed Center, and the Prairie Arts Center. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive arts and culture strategy, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and community partners to enhance the arts and culture experience for OSU students, faculty, and the broader community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the OSU Museum of Art, the Doel Reed Center, and the Prairie Arts Center.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the arts and culture initiatives at OSU, working closely with the Provost, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement arts and culture programs and initiatives that enhance the student experience and advance the university's mission and goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, arts organizations, and cultural institutions to advance the arts and culture initiatives at OSU.
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources for the arts and culture initiatives at OSU.
  • Provide administrative oversight for the OSU Museum of Art, the Doel Reed Center, and the Prairie Arts Center.
Requirements:
  • Three to five years of experience as an administrator at a college or university, preferably in a role related to arts and culture.
  • Advanced degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Deep interest in art and commitment to sharing knowledge with others.
  • Commitment to student learning and success.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across colleges and the OSU System.
  • Experience in fund raising and grant-writing.
  • Curatorial experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five to seven years of experience as an administrator at a college or university, preferably in a role related to arts and culture.
  • Terminal degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field.
  • Established track record in fund raising, grant-writing, and donor relations.
