Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center is seeking a skilled Gallery Guide to bring our exhibitions to life for various audiences. As a Gallery Guide, you will deliver engaging tours, facilitate explorations of art, and provide exceptional visitor experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in a comprehensive 12-hour training program to gain the skills and knowledge required for our visitor-centered and inquiry-based tours.
- Deliver engaging tours for various audiences, including public tours, guided group tours, school group visits, and family gallery chats.
- Work closely with the Coordinator of Tour and School Programs to develop and facilitate tours that meet the needs of our diverse audiences.
- Research and develop tours that are relevant and engaging for our visitors.
- Ensure the safety of our art and visitors by following established security procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a high-quality visitor experience.
- Report on programs, including attendance, participant feedback, and observational notes.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to think on your feet and problem-solve.
- Previous experience working with the public, preferably in customer service, retail, or education.
- Strong interest in education, contemporary arts, and culture.
- Degree in fine arts, design, architecture, art history, art education, media arts, education, or history is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to work a range of days and hours.
- Weekend and holiday work is required regularly.
- Use of a car is required, with a valid driver's license and insurance.
- Fingerprint clearance and background check are required.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
- $20/hour for tours, $15/hour for training and research.
