Agricultural Research Specialist - Center for Agricultural Synthetic Biology
A full-time position is available for a research specialist within the laboratory focused on agricultural synthetic biology. This role is funded through grants, and ongoing employment is dependent on continued funding. The specialist will contribute to the enhancement of plant species via genetic modification to tackle pressing agricultural and environmental issues.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be skilled in various laboratory techniques including PCR, plasmid DNA extraction, restriction enzyme analysis, gel purification, yeast and plant transformation, as well as media and buffer preparation. Responsibilities also include greenhouse upkeep and other necessary laboratory tasks. The candidate should be adept at designing experiments and developing standardized research protocols. Additionally, this role involves ensuring the integrity of data collected.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in plant biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, or a related discipline is required, along with three years of relevant laboratory experience. A Master's degree in a similar field is preferred. Preference will be given to those with a strong publication record, relevant experience, and a high level of motivation.
The position demands excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Candidates must be prepared to work cooperatively in a team setting.
