The University Physicians' Association is seeking a dedicated Prior Authorization Specialist to join our esteemed team at University Cancer Specialists, a prominent medical oncology group affiliated with a leading medical center.
Role Summary: This role entails engaging with the prior authorization team to facilitate the acquisition of necessary authorizations for imaging and medications, managing outpatient imaging appointments, and ensuring seamless coordination of patient schedules.
Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday – Friday; flexible hours between 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation.
- Proficient in customer relations.
- Sound judgment, tact, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Able to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
- Competent in using computers and relevant software.
- Prior experience with insurance processes and authorizations is essential.
- Experience in oncology settings is advantageous.
- Familiarity with Cerner systems is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate, monitor, and secure authorizations prior to the delivery of services.
- Engage with insurance providers to confirm patient eligibility, benefits, and requirements.
- Exhibit knowledge of medical terminology and proficiency in standard medical office practices, including HIPAA compliance.
- Relay any changes or trends in insurance policies to the team and management.
- Maintain productivity levels that meet departmental standards.
- Document all communications in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
