Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Assistant to join our team at Dartmouth College. This role will play a pivotal part in enhancing our department's operations and culture, ensuring smooth operations and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate various departmental activities, including faculty and staff meetings, committee meetings, seminar series, educational workshops, and department events.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the department, engaging regularly with diverse constituents while representing the department's interests to the Dean's Office.
  • Prepare and proofread a wide range of materials, from correspondence and reports to agendas and minutes.
  • Manage departmental email and triage content to prioritize communications effectively.
  • Maintain and organize the department's database platforms, adhering to best practices in records retention.
  • Collaborate with the search committee chair in faculty recruitment efforts, skillfully posting job openings and coordinating the interview process.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree plus 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, paired with excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, contributing positively to a dynamic environment.
  • Flexible and open to change, with a readiness to pivot as priorities and needs shift within the department.
  • Strong ability to plan and prioritize work effectively, managing competing deadlines and responding to changes in schedules with composure.
  • A keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks and communications.
