Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Children and Families First Delaware Inc. The successful candidate will provide critical support to our Head Start program team in identifying and securing necessary resources for families of children experiencing mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consultative Support: Provide expertise to our program through observations, assessments, and consultative support to promote social and emotional development in children.
  • Intervention and Support: Provide intervention for children and families to promote social and emotional development using evidence-based models.
  • Staff Consultation: Provide on-site staff consultation to build understanding and capacity to identify and support children with behavioral and mental health concerns.
  • Observations and Assessments: Conduct classroom, center-based, and home-based child observations to assess individual needs of children and the overall classroom environment.
  • Parent Support: Provide parents with education regarding mental health concerns and emotional wellness and support them in needed mental health interventions.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Document all screenings, assessments, and consultations in appropriate databases and prepare timely documentation, reports, and records in accordance with agency and state accreditation requirements.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field with two years post-masters experience and a clinical license (LCSW, LPCMH, or LMFT) preferred. Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field with a clinical license within two years of hire date required.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Experience with child behavioral and mental health concerns, knowledge and understanding of infant and toddler mental health, and ability to respond appropriately to cultural differences present among our service population.
  • Language and Cultural Competence: Bilingual in Spanish and/or Creole preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
