Wastewater Operations Technician

Position Summary: This is an entry-level role within the versatile Field Operations team. Under regular supervision, the individual will conduct inspections and perform general upkeep on wastewater pumping facilities. Responsibilities include basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and instrumentation tasks, as well as maintenance and repair of all equipment associated with wastewater pump stations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with pipeline locating and respond to customer service inquiries.
- Maintain, install, and repair water and sewer lines, including valve operations and line flushing to ensure high-quality service.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, regulations, and safety standards.
- Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including participation in a 24-hour on-call rotation.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Preferred: At least 1 year of relevant experience.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Proficient in using computers and electrical equipment.
- A valid driver's license is mandatory.
Training Requirements:
Completion of BJWSA-sponsored training programs in various safety and operational procedures is required, including work zone safety, trenching and shoring, arc flash training, crane operations, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, first aid/CPR, and bloodborne pathogens. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with experience in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
Compensation and Benefits:
Starting Salary: $18.52 per hour

- Field Operator III: $25.78+ per hour
- Field Operator IV: $29.06+ per hour
