Construction Inspector

Job Summary:

Beaufort Jasper Water & Sewer Authority is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to perform ongoing inspections of construction projects to ensure they are completed per approved plans and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility construction and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform preliminary inspections, final inspections, and observations of construction projects to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications.
• Document and record construction observations with daily inspection reports, including general notes and photographs of construction progress.
• Inspect and ensure materials onsite meet specifications and approved shop drawing submittals.
• Coordinate with BJWSA personnel and contractors to facilitate tie-in to existing systems and construction of new systems.
• Approve minor changes to approved plans and specifications as necessitated by unexpected field conditions.
• Perform warranty inspections and recommend projects for service authorization by verification of close-out documents.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience in utility construction or technical training in general construction.
• Previous experience with computer applications and ability to operate BJWSA-specific software.
• Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification, Class C Water Distribution Operator and Class C Wastewater Collections license preferred.

Working Conditions:

The Construction Inspector will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to construction sites. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
