About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Host to join our team at The Peninsula Chicago. As a Host, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests and ensuring that their experience is memorable and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all activities related to reservation handling, greeting, seating, and farewell in the bar, adhering to the hotel's standards.
  • Perform pre-service and after-service procedures as per established protocols.
  • Confirm reservations and large parties two days in advance.
  • Handle on-the-day reservations to Peninsula standards.
  • Understand and accurately follow the standard of sequence of service.
  • Maintain the daily condition of all physical facilities and equipment in the restaurant, public area, and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed.
  • Responsible for taking out orders over the phone or in person.
  • Responsible for cash handling.
Requirements
  • At least two years of guest service experience.
  • Knowledge of Open Table or other computerized reservation systems.
  • Some computer experience, including Excel and Word.
  • Some wine knowledge.
  • Micros experience.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Impeccable grooming and excellent presentation.
  • Outgoing, well-spoken, polite, level-headed, patient, and able to smile easily and get along with different personality types.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations.
