### Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Coding Specialist II to join our team at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority. As a key member of our Outpatient Clinical Documentation team, you will play a critical role in improving the capture of Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) and ensuring accurate coding of medical records.

### Key Responsibilities

* Review medical record documentation and code encounters with precision and attention to detail
* Collaborate closely with the Outpatient Clinical Documentation team to optimize HCC capture and coding accuracy
* Utilize Epic software to efficiently and effectively manage coding tasks
* Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices in medical coding and risk adjustment

### Qualifications

* High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a healthcare-related field preferred
* 2 years of progressive coding experience in multiple specialties, with HCC risk adjustment coding required
* Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and/or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist- Outpatient or Certified Documentation Expert Outpatient (CDEO) Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Coding Specialist Physician-Based (CCS-P), or a Certified Coding Associate (CCA) required
* Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
