The Unaccompanied Children Program is dedicated to providing both long-term and transitional residential care, along with essential support services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) under the legal custody of the Federal Government. In partnership with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), our initiative ensures a secure and nurturing environment for youth within the Basic Shelter and Therapeutic Group Home programs, as well as through our Transitional Foster Care and Long Term Foster Care programs located in various foster homes.
Our mission is to deliver therapeutic and educational services tailored to the unique needs of these youth, employing a range of strength-based and targeted interventions. We also facilitate connections with family members or other sponsors in the United States, empowering these young individuals to progress in their lives and thrive.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation and development of lesson plans and curriculum for both the Transitional Foster Care and Basic Shelter programs, ensuring they cater to the developmental needs of the youth and are accessible in their native languages.
- Collaborate with the Office of Refugee Resettlement and other governing bodies to ensure compliance with educational standards for the youth in our programs.
- Coordinate specialized tutorial services for youth requiring additional academic support, overseeing the organization and monitoring of tutoring sessions across various subjects.
- Facilitate educational activities within the community and implement hands-on projects that enhance the learning experience for the youth.
- Maintain an inventory of educational supplies, ensuring that the program is well-equipped to meet the needs of the youth.
- Conduct assessments for minors within 72 hours of their arrival and every 90 days thereafter, ensuring timely documentation in the UC Portal.
- Be prepared to cover and teach any class within the program as needed.
- Organize and coordinate community engagement activities, including fundraising initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: One year of experience in providing educational services to youth facing behavioral, educational, and emotional challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with a focus on ENL extension or pathways to obtain a bachelor's degree or equivalent with bilingual extension preferred.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish and English is essential.
- Minimum Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification required.
Compensation: Annual salary of $44,925.00
