The Senior Wealth Associate plays a pivotal role in supporting Wealth Advisors throughout the Wealth Management process. This role is designed to enhance sales and service skills, preparing the individual for a future transition to a Wealth Advisor position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Wealth Advisor to nurture client relationships, ensuring top-tier service. Utilize internal and external resources, including fiduciary, planning, investment, and banking partners, along with external accountants and attorneys, to address client-related inquiries and fulfill their needs. Maintain an updated schedule for regular client interactions.
- Engage with clients, external advisors, and internal specialists to organize and facilitate meetings aimed at attracting, retaining, and expanding business. Create targeted prospecting lists and provide sales support to enhance the sales strategy. Document all relevant information in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Prepare client meeting materials to support business initiatives. Develop annual Relationship Reviews to pinpoint opportunities for business growth and present these relationships at committee meetings.
- Assist the Wealth Advisor by participating in internal meetings to gain insights into investments, core banking services, and Trust; take detailed notes and highlight critical information relevant to client communication and service. As expertise grows, take on more client-facing responsibilities and may serve as the primary contact for smaller client accounts.
- Engage in the development of external centers of influence and represent the firm's expertise within the professional community to establish a network of external referral partners.
- Collaborate with Wealth Associates to ensure all data input and reporting requirements of the Wealth Advisor are met, including systems and analysis related to planning, investments, and Trust, while providing guidance and training as necessary.
- Offer advice and mentorship to Wealth Associates to aid in their development of client-facing responsibilities.
- Comply with applicable compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company or regulatory standards and policies. Conduct investment-related compliance reviews and any other compliance support as needed.
- Understand and adhere to the company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the company's Risk Appetite. Identify and escalate risk-related issues to management.
- Foster an environment that promotes diversity and reflects the Wilmington Trust brand.
- Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points along with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The Senior Wealth Associate provides extensive support to the Wealth Advisor, enabling them to concentrate on business attraction and expansion while ensuring high client satisfaction. This role involves significant client interaction and assists in addressing all aspects of client needs. The jobholder facilitates and manages interactions with various internal and external advisors to guarantee that clients receive a comprehensive range of products and services. This position develops a thorough understanding of specialty areas (core banking, investments, planning, and trust) to effectively leverage internal expertise. The role is also accountable for supporting revenue growth and acting as a client advocate to ensure clients have access to the firm's full resources. It serves as an internal liaison between Wealth Advisors and other internal service areas, such as Investments, Trust, Private Banking, and Wealth Planning, to coordinate relationship-oriented activities. The position is responsible for overseeing relationship onboarding to ensure a seamless process and an excellent new client experience. This role serves as a feeder pool for the Wealth Advisor position, gaining progressive experience in client-facing responsibilities focused on business attraction and retention. Additionally, it provides coaching and guidance to Wealth Associates to support their transition from operational tasks to client-facing roles.
Managerial/Supervisory Responsibilities:
Provides guidance and training to Wealth Associates.
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities, and prioritization skills are essential. Proficiency with personal computers and relevant software applications is required. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with the flexibility to undertake various tasks in a dynamic environment and a strong client service focus. Demonstrated knowledge of wealth products is also necessary.
Education and Experience Preferred:
A minimum of 1 year of financial services sales or relationship management experience is preferred. Certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Trust & Fiduciary Advisor (CTFA), and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation are advantageous.
Physical Requirements:
Availability to attend and travel to client meetings and other events is necessary.
