Role Responsibilities:

The educator will coordinate, develop, and implement individualized learning programs and educational services aimed at enhancing students' academic, social, and emotional development, along with their overall health and well-being.


Key Duties Include:

  • Conducting assessments and observations to identify areas requiring additional or modified educational support, including academic performance, behavior, social skills, and physical health.
  • Recognizing student needs and creating tailored lesson and teaching plans.
  • Formulating Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student, establishing learning objectives, and making necessary adjustments; ensuring that lessons are organized according to each student's capabilities.
  • Providing quarterly reports on student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Communicating effectively with students, staff, parents, and team members.
  • Designing and delivering lessons that engage small groups and individual students while adhering to IEP and 504 plan requirements.
  • Implementing IEPs, conducting ongoing assessments, and continuously monitoring progress with necessary modifications.
  • Understanding and developing intervention strategies and behavior management plans.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and providing Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) tailored to individual student needs.
  • Completing and maintaining all required documentation in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Participating in all IEP meetings.
  • Staying informed about special education methodologies, research, and best practices through professional development.
  • Advocating for students' needs and celebrating their achievements.
  • Recognizing the significance of staff professionalism in effectively responding to student needs.
  • Training paraprofessionals in the implementation of students' programs, including academic support, physical therapy, and data collection.
  • Providing individual instruction within the classroom and school environment.
  • Performing physical tasks related to student support, including lifting and repositioning students as necessary.
  • Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for students with various needs.
  • Assisting students with daily living activities and self-care.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, maintaining a calm and patient demeanor.
  • Comprehensive understanding of diverse special education needs and services.
  • Proficient in implementing various effective teaching strategies.
  • Knowledge of policies, laws, and guidelines related to special education, including IDEA, IEPs, and 504 plans.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid state license or certification is necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods within the school environment.
  • Capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to assist students with physical challenges.
  • Willingness to engage in various physical activities to support and instruct students throughout the day.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer for administrative tasks.
