Water Fitness Coach

The Keene Family YMCA is seeking a dedicated and passionate Swim Instructor to join our team.

This role involves instructing group classes in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

• Teach Group Classes: Instruct group classes in a safe, enjoyable, culturally aware, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures with advocacy for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
• Build Relationships: Build personal and meaningful relationships with YMCA members, participants, volunteers, and guests while exemplifying the Y's commitment to DEI and the four-character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility.
• Emergency Procedures: Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the safe-in-six model (Prevent, Recognize, Activate EAP, Rescue, Care, Report).
• Maintenance and Equipment Checks: Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code, performs equipment checks, and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
• Training and Development: Attends all staff meetings and in-service training, performs other duties as assigned, and maintains certification-level of physical and mental readiness.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and current YMCA certified Swim Instructor/trainer, YMCA Water Safety instructor/trainer.
• Physical Demands: Meet strength and lifting requirements, able to lift 60 pounds alone, and may request assistance to pull victims out of the pool.
• Vaccination Policy: All employees and volunteers are required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine unless a reasonable accommodation is approved.
• Background Check: All positions require passing a background check.

We offer a competitive salary of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, flexible schedules, professional development opportunities, 401a retirement plan with company match, plus option to contribute to a 403b retirement savings account, and FREE membership to the Y.
