Job Title: Instructor II

Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and responsible Instructor II to join our team at Archdiocesan Youth Employment Services (AYES). As an Instructor II, you will play a vital role in providing educational services to less privileged youth and undeserved adults.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct assessments of participants using the CASAS Employability Competency system, including the ECS Appraisal and appropriate level test.
  • Instruct students in remedial and Basic Skills learning, assigning text and program materials as needed.
  • Conduct pre- and post-testing of clients to evaluate the effectiveness of educational services and competency of clients.
  • Provide supervision to volunteer and client tutors, assisting with post-program follow-up and progress of clients to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement individualized study plans for remediation of Basic Skills Training, interpreting assessments and participant's Individual Service Strategy (ISS) to determine appropriate materials for individual education plans.
  • Prescribe lessons following agency Comprehensive Acquisition Plans (CAP) for work readiness and basic skills, conducting instruction in individual and group settings.
  • Maintain and submit written individual records for participants following agency policy and procedures.
  • Organize, plan, and complete special projects and events to enhance the program and contribute positively to the development of co-workers and participants.
  • Conduct InnerSight recruitment, enrollments, and orientation, as well as Information Sessions as requested.
  • Meet with youth individually to conduct P3 Assessments, providing appropriate referrals and assisting with JobsLA / CalJobs data entry and internal P3 Database.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis and/or training in secondary education, adult basic education, English, mathematics, remediation, literacy, ESL, or reading.
  • Must pass the CBEST within six months of hire.
  • One to three years of experience teaching or tutoring specialized services, such as tutoring in basic skills, self-esteem building, parenting, vocational endeavors, mentorship, and leadership development.
  • Must have a current California Driver's License.
  • Bilingual, English-Spanish preferred.
