Job Summary

The City of Portsmouth New Hampshire is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Sanitation Laborer to join our team. As a key member of our Environmental Services department, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lift, empty, and dispose of refuse and recyclables in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate refuse collection equipment and hand tools to ensure effective waste management.
  • Assist with customer education on proper refuse disposal methods and promote environmental awareness.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least six months of experience in refuse collection or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain a CDL class B license within one year of hire.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
