Water Construction Operations Manager

**About the Job**
We are seeking a highly skilled Water Construction Operations Manager to join our team at American States Water Company. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of water and wastewater construction crews, ensuring that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team that operates across multiple states, providing vital services to military installations and communities. Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring public health and safety, and promoting sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and supervision to water and wastewater construction crews, including Foreman, Operators, and Workers.
- Oversee routine to complex technical and administrative assignments, including team make-up and staffing, preparing work plans, assuring quality control, managing and tracking costs, ensuring safety programs and practices, and maintaining good working relations among the team.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and various material providers.
- Work with the Construction Program Leader in overseeing Foreman, Operators, and Workers in activities related to all phases of water and wastewater system utility construction.
- Serve as the supervisor of construction crew members, including Foreman, Operators, and Workers.
- Manage, coordinate, and schedule the daily operations of construction personnel.
- Lead by example, focusing on quality and quality management, ensuring that Foreman and crew members follow all safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Eight (8) years of prior water and wastewater system construction experience.
- At least four (4) years of supervisory experience as a Foreman on utility construction projects.
- Proficient in knowledge of handling a trench box and the use of quick shoring.
- Strong knowledge of utility plans and specifications.
- Proficient skill with lasers, line and grade, excavation, and dewatering.
- Committed to quality service.
- Responds appropriately to supervision.
- Aligns behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of the organic construction group.
- Encourages cooperation, team spirit, and group inclusiveness.
- Has strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- When expressing information takes into account the audience and the nature of the information.
- Proficient in operating and instructing others on how to use heavy machinery, including dump truck, rubber tire backhoe, mini excavator, track excavator, skid-steer, loader, and asphalt roller.
- Communicates both orally and written, with local officials, company management/staff, customers, and others.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License issued by the state where employed.
- Must be a United States Citizen.
- Working knowledge of general hand tools and power tools.
- Must take and pass Federal OSHA and/or State Mandated Safety training with annual refresher courses as required by the associated regulations for this Position.
About the Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and other factors. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, paid vacation and sick time, twelve company-paid holidays per year, 401(k) retirement plan, Defined Contribution Profit Sharing retirement plan, life, AD&D, and LTD insurance, health savings account, flexible spending plans, and more.
Location
This role is based in the United States, with travel requirements as needed.
