Job Summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team. As a Radiology Technologist, you will be responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and the use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns, and extraneous radiation to patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient's understanding of process and informed consent of invasive procedures.
  • Assess, evaluate, and inform physician of changes in patient's condition during exam.
  • Select appropriate equipment to use for procedure.
  • Determine most suitable anatomical posture and positions and shields patients accordingly.
  • Make special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures.
  • Program portable or stationary x-ray machines and make radiograms for a variety of examinations.
  • Process x-ray film, if a darkroom technician is not available.
  • Practice medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining basic records and reports.
  • Assist in maintaining files.
  • Competent in the use of CR and PACS.
  • Assist in training of students and ancillary personnel.
  • Take x-ray, CAT, U/S, and Angio calls according to monthly schedule after the closing of the regular department hours.
  • Interact professionally with patient/family.
  • Complete all work before clocking out and leaving.
  • Be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
  • Have knowledge of hospital policies and the functions of other departments.
  • Compile and maintain quality assurance information for mammography.
  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups: neonate, pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general population.
  • Able to modify job duties and communicate with customers in an age-appropriate manner.
  • Appropriately assess the patient's pain and involve the patient in effective management of pain using age-appropriate interventions.
  • Meet dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Complete annual educational requirements.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time.
  • Consistently complete and maintain assigned duties; maintain PAR levels.
  • Wear identification while on duty; use computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Complete in-services and return in a timely fashion.
  • Attend annual review and departmental in-services, as scheduled.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge/Competency to complete all standard x-ray procedures/exams.
  • Good understanding of ALARA principles.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced/busy atmosphere.
  • Ability to operate all common x-ray equipment, including portable x-ray, R&F rooms, C-arms, and other.
  • Ability to offer compassionate care to all age groups.
  • Ability to complete specialty exams without assistance.
  • Knowledge/proficient in the use of PACS.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Assist in training of x-ray students and ancillary personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with providers in a clear and concise manner.
  • Able to flex work schedule as required to meet the needs of the department.
  • Willingly take call as required.
Requirements
  • Registered Radiographer (ARRT) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
  • State Registered Radiologic Technician.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers, must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
