Job Title: Regional Controller

HeartLand, LLC is seeking a highly motivated and customer-driven professional to lead the Southwest Region's accounting team as a Regional Controller in Tucson, Arizona.

The Opportunity

The Regional Controller is responsible for oversight of all accounting functions within a certain geographic region. The Regional Controller provides guidance, interpretation, and instruction as required to ensure financial and operating compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and focuses on the following two areas:

Manage Region:
  • Manage all accounting responsibilities including control compliance, financial reporting, cash management oversight, tax compliance, audit support, and business reporting.
  • Take responsibility for all finance issues in the group on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure regional financial statements are accurate, complete, and in accordance with corporate policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Review financial results and discuss changes to address needs and trends. Assist in the development of monitoring of policies and procedures within generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines to ensure sufficient cash flow and reduced operating costs.
  • Ensure adequate controls are installed and maintained for the protection of the organization's financial assets against loss or misappropriation.
  • Establish and reinforce a system of effective accounting and operational controls.
  • Take a senior role with regards to collaboration between Finance and Operations.
Company Growth:
  • Work in conjunction with senior leadership in the aggressive and successful growth of the company.
  • Function in a leadership role in the integration of new regional companies to Heartland's production and ERP systems.
  • Coordinate hiring and training of new Finance staff in the region.
Key Performance Metrics:

The Regional Controller will be evaluated on their ability to demonstrate exceptional leadership, reflecting the operational objectives of the organization. Specific areas of evaluation include:

  • Maintaining excellent controls within our ERP system Acumatica, as supported by a direct tie-out between our production system and Acumatica.
  • Achieving a complete and accurate financial close, while meeting deadlines monthly.
  • Ensuring aged receivables stay within a threshold set by Heartland Corporate.
  • Successfully integrating new acquisitions into Heartland's ERP system (Acumatica).

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of accounting experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Success in achieving sound financial performance of organizations of comparable size to the Region.
  • Preferably have experience with Aspire and Acumatica or similar industry software.
  • Be versatile and adaptable to a constantly changing and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse team, with attention to mentorship and professional development of staff.
  • Have an attitude of always looking to improve upon what we are doing and how; and along the way, celebrating and recognizing the improvements.
  • Strict attention to detail, with exceptional time management, organizational, and follow-up skills, to assure all responsibilities are quickly and efficiently met in a faced-paced environment.
