Job Title: Flight Avionics Department Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced leader to head our Flight Avionics Department. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, integration, and sustainment of state-of-the-art electrical subsystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to section leads, chief engineers, and other team members to ensure effective communication and program execution.
  • Review proposals and utilize EVMS techniques to manage programs.
  • Ensure staff development through effective performance management, including goal setting, career development, and employee learning.
  • Provide engineering oversight to programs supported by the department through project design reviews and peer reviews.
  • Lead and manage department staff, including recruiting, hiring, and developing effective engineers and engineering leaders.
  • Create and analyze metrics to manage organizational and program performance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), Physics, or a related engineering degree, and a minimum of 12 years of prior related work experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years of prior related work experience.
  • 12+ years of engineering experience, including at least 6 years of leadership roles.
  • Work experience in analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support, RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support, or electro-optical product and subassembly design, integration, and production support.
  • Experience with EVMS, development of budgets, task planning, milestone development, and budget management.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related engineering degree.
  • Expert knowledge and experience leading a multi-disciplined department.
  • Systems engineering thought process with analytical skills background.
  • Able to network and influence outside of the Flight Avionics Department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment.
