Position Overview:

This is an ongoing recruitment for both Full-Time and Part-Time positions available during Evening and Night Shifts. We are looking for several dedicated and enthusiastic Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to take on supervisory roles within designated units of our facility, while promoting collaboration across various disciplines.

As an LPN at the Veterans Home, you will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care and support to our veterans. Your role will involve:

  • Providing outstanding nursing care by assessing health conditions, responding to resident requests, and making regular observations.
  • Administering nursing treatments, procedures, and care plans while observing and addressing the needs for care, including medication management and patient education.
  • Evaluating veteran health status and collaborating with Registered Nurses (RNs) and medical staff for effective treatment strategies.
  • Recognizing urgent care situations and coordinating with RNs and medical staff to initiate necessary emergency interventions.
  • Working alongside other service personnel to ensure adherence to individual care plans.
  • Building positive relationships with veterans and their families to enhance the care experience.
  • Documenting incidents and referring to RNs for further action as needed.
  • Upholding the mission and operational policies of the Veterans Home while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Engaging in personal and professional development through ongoing training and participation in healthcare committees.
  • Utilizing computer systems effectively to complete work assignments.
Work Schedule:
  • Part-time and full-time positions are available during Evening (3:00 pm - 11:30 pm) and Night (11:15 pm - 7:15 am) shifts.
  • Alternating weekend and holiday shifts are required.
  • This facility operates 24/7, and staff may be needed during nontraditional hours based on operational needs.
Required Qualifications:
  • Current, active license as a practical nurse in Massachusetts.
  • CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in dementia, hospice, or related fields.
  • Ability to foster effective relationships with individuals, families, and team members.
  • Attention to detail and readiness to respond appropriately in various situations.
  • Capability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Proficiency in using computers for job-related tasks.
Emergency Personnel Designation:

This position is classified as emergency personnel. During declared emergencies or adverse weather conditions, reporting to work will be necessary.
