We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to enhance our finance team. This role is pivotal in supporting the Controller by managing and coordinating essential accounting functions and office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the complete accounting cycle.
  • Generate comprehensive financial reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow analyses.
  • Review and ensure timely payment of invoices, aligning them with the correct accounts.
  • Administer weekly payroll processes.
  • Compile and prepare weekly prevailing wage documentation.
  • Conduct general cost accounting and related activities.
  • Record customer payments accurately.
  • Assist in the creation and closure of purchase orders.
  • Maintain the general ledger, including the preparation of recurring journal entries.
  • Reconcile project accounts with the general ledger, addressing discrepancies proactively.
  • Analyze job costs and profit margins, providing insightful reports.
  • Reconcile manufacturing costs with the general ledger and prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Manage the depreciation schedule effectively.
  • Facilitate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory standards in all accounting practices.
  • Support audit preparations and budgeting processes.
  • Assist in billing and tax documentation tasks.
  • Monitor and manage sales tax reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments on special projects as needed.
  • Execute weekly check runs and manage vendor remittances.
  • Prepare and distribute various financial reports to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain all relevant financial spreadsheets and databases.
  • Prepare timely reports and presentations as required.
  • Conduct physical inventory audits.
  • Manage prepaid expenses and various accruals.
  • Address vendor inquiries efficiently.
  • Verify customer orders as necessary.
  • Handle accounts receivable and collections as required.
  • Conduct accounting research as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience.
  • At least two years of experience in the construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting regulations and GAAP.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks or Sage software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Proven multitasking abilities while maintaining organization amidst varying data sources.
  • A collaborative team player with outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Additional certifications such as CPA or CMA are advantageous.
  • Physical requirements may include frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 40 lbs.
