Historic Site Interpreter

This is a part-time, temporary position at the Grinter Place Historic Site in Kansas City, KS. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the site in the absence of the Site Administrator or when they require assistance for school tours and events.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of Kansas history and a willingness to learn about the Grinter Place Historic Site. They should be self-motivated and able to work mostly alone without direct supervision.
Responsibilities include:
- Opening and closing procedures
- Answering phone calls and emails
- Collecting admissions and operating the gift shop
- Conducting tours and interpreting the history of the site
- Monitoring the physical site and performing basic maintenance tasks
Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in history or liberal arts, or experience in a museum setting. Retail experience is also a plus.
Applicants should be able to work weekdays and weekends as needed and have a basic knowledge of computers and the ability to learn and operate the TAM retail system.
