This recruitment is aimed at entry-level candidates eager to embark on a career in law enforcement. The role involves full-time participation in a Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) certified Basic Police Academy, designed to equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge for the responsibilities of a police officer.

Upon successful completion of the academy and meeting all departmental and state requirements, trainees will be sworn in as Police Officers, assuming full duties and responsibilities, along with a starting salary of $7,529.00 per month and associated benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

Police Trainee: During the academy training, incumbents are expected to:
  • Engage in a comprehensive law enforcement training program for entry-level Police Officers.
  • Maintain physical and mental fitness standards throughout the training.
  • Adhere to professional conduct and achieve acceptable academic standing.
Sworn Police Officer: After graduating from the academy, the essential duties include:
  • Conducting patrols in assigned areas, responding to calls for service, and enforcing laws.
  • Conducting investigations of various incidents, including disturbances and thefts.
  • Making arrests and gathering evidence as necessary.
  • Writing reports and maintaining communication with other law enforcement agencies.
  • Providing assistance to the public and responding to emergencies.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certificates:
Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

Special Conditions:
  • No felony convictions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident eligible for citizenship.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
