Position Overview

The Welding Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring high-quality welds are produced efficiently within the Fabrication Department. Collaborating closely with the welding supervisor and other team leaders, the Welder/Fabricator will tackle welding challenges while adhering to timelines and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the welding supervisor and team leaders to foresee and mitigate quality and delivery issues, ensuring adherence to the project schedule provided by engineering.
  • Manage inventory of welding supplies and consumables, coordinating with management to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Assist the management team in diagnosing and resolving fit-up, welding, or mechanical challenges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and equipment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in welding using GMAW and FCAW techniques on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Proficiency in visually interpreting a weld puddle is essential; GTAW experience is advantageous.
  • Capability to weld in all positions.
  • Ability to successfully complete the D1.1 structural welding certification test on 3/8" plate in the 3G position using .045 Dual Shield Flux Core wire.
  • Willingness to perform fittings and welding preparation tasks.
  • Familiarity with AWS or equivalent welding standards is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, teamwork orientation, and ability to follow supervisory guidance.
  • Understanding of safety protocols related to welding, rigging, and material handling, with a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Availability to work overtime as required.
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Possession of personal welding gear, including a welding hood and steel-toed boots.
  • Experience with hand tools, power tools, Piranha Iron Worker, and plasma cutting is beneficial.
  • A solid background in structural welding is preferred, with pipe welding experience considered a plus.
