Job Title: R&D Network Engineering Scientist Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Network Engineering Scientist Associate to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our Applied Research Laboratories, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, integrating, and documenting modern TCP/IP network systems in our Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop TCP/IP network systems, including network, computing, storage, and graphics equipment.
  • Configure network systems equipment for high performance and security.
  • Design and develop network infrastructure based on data center designs, both physical and virtual.
  • Test, troubleshoot, integrate, and profile network systems to meet system requirements.
  • Document and configuration management of network systems equipment.
  • Provide local and remote technical support of network system design and implementation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated knowledge designing, configuring, troubleshooting, testing, validating, and documenting TCP/IP model networks.
  • Knowledge and experience with network stack and principles, addressing, link-layer protocols, routing protocols, transport protocols, and network services.
  • Experience with Linux and network security fundamentals.
  • Experience with network monitoring, profiling, and load balancing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with a focus on networked systems.
  • Two or more years of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer or Computer Scientist.
  • Knowledge and experience with network architecture variations, link aggregation, ECMP, BGP, VLANS, and DNS.
  • Experience with Network Operating System (NOS) and network security devices and configurations.
  • Network certification.
  • Eligibility for immediate access to classified information.
Working Conditions:

Standard office conditions, repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity, some weekend, evening, and holiday work, possible interstate/intrastate travel.
