Position Overview

Holy Family University is seeking a dedicated full-time Academic Advisor to join our team. This role involves advising first-year, transfer, and undecided students, and will report directly to the Director of Academic Advising. The Advisor will develop expertise in general education and program curricula, utilize university advising databases, and understand registration processes and institutional policies to provide exceptional advising services.

Key Responsibilities:

Guide students on course registration, concentration requirements, and the implications of course changes. Address student inquiries regarding university policies and procedures. Engage with students throughout the academic year to connect them with resources for success. Utilize advising databases and online resources for effective registration. Build strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Assist in training Faculty Advisors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. 1-2 years of experience in higher education preferred.

Skills and Competencies:

Familiarity with university policies and procedures. Ability to cultivate effective working relationships within the campus community. Strong skills in student advising, counseling, and group presentations. Proven ability to work independently with initiative and attention to detail. Capacity to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening and respect for confidentiality. Understanding of Holy Family's educational philosophy and resources. Knowledge of FERPA regulations regarding student records. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
