Position Summary

The Evening Shift Nursing Supervisor will oversee nursing staff and perform administrative responsibilities. This role involves collaborating with physicians and psychiatrists to ensure effective medical interventions, as well as sharing relevant information with the Program Director and Facility Manager. The Nursing Supervisor will engage with clients daily, conduct assessments, and manage the administration of prescribed medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading therapeutic nursing groups
  • Ensuring accurate and thorough client documentation
  • Executing physician orders
  • Administering medications as directed
  • Conducting daily narcotic counts and maintaining logs
  • Regularly meeting with medical and clinical teams to discuss client care
  • Assessing medical issues as necessary
  • Providing primary first aid and determining the need for physician consultation
  • Collaborating with medical professionals to ensure appropriate interventions
  • Conducting daily assessments and managing medication administration for each client
  • Executing orders from physicians and psychiatrists, while communicating updates to the Program Director and Facility Manager
  • Understanding therapeutic processes and confidentiality regulations, along with a strong grasp of professional ethics
  • Exhibiting leadership qualities and effective communication skills across diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrating professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and a non-judgmental approach
  • Participating in on-call rotations for emergency situations
  • Overseeing the schedule for medication administration staff
  • Engaging in staff orientation and educational activities as needed
  • Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings and client care committees
  • Providing administrative oversight for nursing services and supervising nursing staff as appropriate
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of nursing policies and quality objectives
  • Upholding ethical standards and complying with all organizational policies
  • Effectively communicating client health concerns to the Medical Director and following up as necessary
  • Facilitating medication education for new and existing clients
  • Participating in regular departmental and staff meetings
  • Maintaining current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Infection Control
  • Collaborating effectively with team members and demonstrating adaptability in a dynamic work environment

This is a full-time position with a Monday to Friday schedule.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Mental health nursing experience is advantageous
  • Valid RN License in the state required
  • Knowledge of JCAHO and state regulatory standards
  • Strong understanding of nursing principles and practices
  • Familiarity with Axis I diagnoses and symptoms
  • Knowledge of medications and their appropriate use
  • Able to perform vital sign assessments, first aid, and basic evaluations
