POSITION OVERVIEW

The primary focus of this role is to fulfill daily responsibilities in the preparation, stocking, and presentation of bakery items to maximize sales and ensure product availability while delivering exceptional customer service. Key challenges include mastering product knowledge, optimizing workflow, and enhancing production efficiency. This role necessitates familiarity with bakery product preparation, adherence to food safety standards, effective communication skills, physical stamina for walking and standing, moderate lifting capabilities, and proficiency in using finishing and wrapping tools. Work hours and responsibilities may vary based on business demands, with direction provided by the Bakery Manager or designated supervisor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Engagement

  • Welcome customers, offer assistance, and express gratitude.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, provide product samples, and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Guide customers to product locations as necessary.
  • Support product replenishment and conduct price checks.
  • Handle bakery-related phone inquiries promptly.
  • Accurately document cake orders.
  • Assist at checkout as required.

Product Preparation and Packaging

  • Adhere to safe food handling and preparation practices.
  • Apply icing, glazes, or drizzles as needed.
  • Prepare and decorate cakes as required.
  • Slice and package bread and rolls.
  • Transfer products to appropriate trays or containers.
  • Label and price bakery items accurately.

Inventory Management

  • Remove stale products and document details.
  • Maintain cleanliness of display cases and storage bins.
  • Restock shelves, bins, and display cases.
  • Verify pricing and signage accuracy.

Merchandising Support

  • Assist in creating and maintaining attractive department displays.
  • Contribute to seasonal merchandising efforts.
  • Ensure proper signage is maintained throughout the department.

Department Sanitation

  • Comply with all safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations.
  • Assist in cleaning and maintaining equipment.
  • Help keep the department and backroom organized and clean.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment as required.

Compliance and Additional Duties

  • Adhere to all store and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
