The YMCA of Greater Boston is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Swim Team Assistant Coach to join our team. This dynamic individual will assist with swim team practices and meets as needed, working under the supervision of the Head Swim Coach.



Job Description:

This is a part-time position that requires working primarily evening and weekends, with some weekends requiring early morning practices or meets. Travel may be necessary to meets and potentially practice sites.



Responsibilities:


  • Provide quality and consistency in all assigned workouts throughout all levels of ability.
  • Attend meets and practices as needed.
  • Write and implement workouts for each practice as instructed by the head coach.
  • Maintain a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals at all times.
  • Engage in active listening with members to build relationships, understand each individual's goals and interests, and take the initiative to assist in achieving those goals.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years.
  • No experience necessary, with training to be completed on-site. Competitive swimming or coaching experience is a plus.


Physical Demands:


  • Physically and verbally able to interact with members and staff.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds at times.


Work Environment:


  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Primarily evening and weekends, with some weekends requiring early morning practices or meets.
  • Travel may be necessary to meets and potentially practice sites.


Required Training and Certifications:


  • Child Abuse Prevention (within the first four weeks of employment).
  • Respect in the Workplace (Sexual Harassment Prevention).
  • CPR, First Aid, and O2 certification.
  • YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving certification.
  • USA Swimming Certification (as required by location).
  • Safety Training for Coaches or YMCA Lifeguarding certification.


Estimated Salary:

The estimated salary for this position is $25,000 to $35,000 per year, based on the location and job requirements.
