About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GPR Utility Location Technician to join our team at ECS Limited. As a key member of our Special Projects Group, you will be responsible for performing field observations and inspections, as well as conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) on various construction materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Activities: Conduct observations, testing, and inspections of construction materials, including structural steel and reinforcing steel, under the guidance of senior technicians and project managers.
  • Testing Procedures: Perform routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using various methodologies and testing equipment.
  • Data Collection: Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections, and engage in drafting and other administrative duties as required.
  • Communication: Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers, keeping the team informed of changing site conditions and requested additional testing.
  • Training and Development: Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing, and document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of related experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Current ASNT CP 9712 Certification or ECS PQC NDE Certification to Level II in a minimum of 2 methods, one of which must be a volumetric/advanced method.
  • Ability to carry 40-70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally lift 85 lbs to waist height.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Sound working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles, applications, and testing standards.
  • Excellent understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform work at heights.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office.
