Audit Director, Quality Programs

Capital One's Audit function is a dedicated group of professionals focused on delivering top-quality assurance services to the organization's Audit Committee. As a leader on the Practices team, you will help teach, challenge, and elevate the work of Audit.
The Practices team works to drive industry-leading audit practices that enable a dynamic approach to assurance and respond to change. As Director, Audit Practices - Quality Programs, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and providing oversight of the Quality Programs team, including Audit's Quality Assurance & Improvement (QAIP) and Quality Control (QC) programs.
The Director will oversee the development of the QAIP Plan and QC Programs, including analysis, selection, planning, execution, review, reporting, and training. In addition, the Director will use automation and technology capabilities to advance quality program objectives and audit practitioner experience.
Responsibilities:
Apply strategic thinking to set the direction and ensure continuous improvement in addition to day-to-day operational management of the Quality Programs team.
Collaborate effectively across multiple organizations, including Audit Practices, Audit Delivery, and other horizontal functions, to foster strong partnerships and ensure consistent quality of Audit deliverables.
Partner with Audit analytics and technology teams to leverage automation and technology capabilities to advance quality program objectives and audit practitioner experience.
Clearly and concisely communicate updates to key stakeholders on quality program results and oversee the preparation of communications, such as presentations and quarterly reports.
Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and enhance quality programs, including leveraging data analytics to enhance program value.
Prioritize and oversee team activities, independently completing multiple tasks across the team and department, and demonstrate the ability to successfully meet deadlines and identify/escalate impediments in a timely manner.
Provide people leadership, both directly and indirectly, including training, coaching, and mentoring, and develop a deep understanding of Audit Methodology to partner with Practices counterparts and influence methodology enhancements.
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree or military experience
At least 10 years of experience in auditing, risk management, or a combination
At least 3 years of project management experience or at least 3 years of experience managing audit engagements
At least 3 years of experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
12+ years of experience in internal or external auditing or risk management, or a combination
6+ years of experience in financial services
6+ years of experience performing industry research or data analysis in support of internal auditing
At least 5 years of experience in people management
This role is hybrid, with associates typically spending about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices. Monday and Fridays are enterprise-wide virtual work days, and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
