Pacific Aviation is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions, as well as maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Payroll Processing:
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
- Accounts Payable:
- Daily review and maintenance of the AP email box.
- Daily processing of vendor invoices.
- Customer relations, including obtaining W9s for proper vendor setup and reconciling statements.
- Adjustments and creating and processing the weekly AP payment run in QBO.
- End-of-year duties, including processing 1099s and final aging for accrual purposes.
- Accounts Receivable:
- Daily review and maintenance of the AR email box.
- Responsible for overseeing the billing process for customers.
- Running monthly customer statements and monthly aging for collections review with senior management.
- Collecting payments, applying cash daily, and reviewing and processing bank activity loaded to QBO.
- Sending out monthly statements.
- Customer account maintenance, including account creation, sales/product creation, rate adjustments, monthly billing (invoice creation), and credit memos.
- Additional duties, including tracking contracts and updating rates as changes occur.
- Previous experience as a payroll accountant or in a similar role.
- Previous experience with AR/AP.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel.
- Great computational ability.
- Attention to detail.
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
- Excellent organizational and people management skills.
- Strong background in payroll workflows.
- Bias toward action, accountability, and ownership.
- Clear, demonstrated passion for building and being part of a winning team.
- Analytical and systems thinker who can make sound data-based decisions.
- Excellent communicator who can keep people informed, but also get to the point quickly.
- Strong ability to influence.
- Heavy results focus with a strong eye on the outcome.
- Salary: $66,000 - $75,000, depending on experience.
