Job Opportunity: Police Recruit

The City of Peoria is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our police department as police recruits. As a police recruit, you will have the opportunity to serve and protect our community while developing your skills and knowledge in law enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the police recruit examination cycle and complete all required testing and evaluations.
  • Meet the minimum qualifications and requirements for the position, including age, education, citizenship, and physical requirements.
  • Pass the written examination and POWER Test to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in law enforcement.
  • Complete a background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and medical examination, including a drug screen.
  • Participate in a combined interview with the department and the Fire and Police Commission.
Requirements:
  • Age: Must be 21 years of age by the date of the last written exam.
  • Education: Graduation from high school or GED equivalent minimum to apply.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or qualified Alien.
  • Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Record: Must agree to be fingerprinted and found not to have been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors.
  • Vision: Applicants must meet minimum standards for vision and hearing.
