Position Overview:

The role of a Crossing Guard involves ensuring the safe passage of students across city streets during school hours. This position also includes providing essential administrative and clerical support to facilitate the smooth operation of school activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and take down school crossing signage to protect pedestrian safety.
  • Observe student conduct to uphold a secure environment.
  • Manage traffic flow and assist students and guardians in crossing streets in accordance with law enforcement protocols.
  • Utilize a two-way radio to communicate any unusual occurrences.
  • Support monitoring in playgrounds, classrooms, and cafeterias.
  • Execute various office tasks as required.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Understanding of police protocols relevant to crossing guard duties.
  • Ability to interpret and implement rules and procedures.
  • Competence in supervising and aiding students in diverse activities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in using office machinery.
Qualifications:

Completion of a Video Safety Training Course for Crossing Guards or equivalent training and experience.

Additional Requirements:
  • Possession of or ability to obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Capability to lift and transport items weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods in varying weather conditions.
