About the Role

AbbVie is seeking a Data Engineer to join our Business Technology Solutions team. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and building data-centric solutions that support our business objectives.

This is a hybrid position based in Lake County, IL, and you will work collaboratively with Data Scientists, Analytics Specialists, Marketing, and other business functions to conceive, design, build, and enhance our models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Extraction and combination of multiple internal and external data sets
  • Onboarding, consolidating, cleansing, and structuring data for efficient use in reports, analytical applications, and machine learning models
  • Pressure-testing data requirements to ensure accurate and meaningful data delivery
  • Responsible for discovery of available data
  • Responsible for effective cross-functional stakeholder management
  • Performing data analysis and reconciliation on datasets of varying sizes and complexities
  • Compiling and presenting accurate data engineering estimates
  • Presenting data engineering status directly to the data and business stakeholders
  • Liaison between the digital brand team (DBT) and BCo BTS
  • Explaining distributions of data to the data and business stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in relevant field and at least 5 years relevant experience OR Masters degree in relevant field and at least 4 years experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially in communicating complex technical concepts to business stakeholders
  • Effective in managing stakeholders from various business functions and engaging proactively in conversations that drive toward meaningful and timely business outcomes
  • Must be proficient in the following data analysis programming languages: SQL & Python
  • Must understand, and be able to apply, data lake and relational database concepts
  • Must be proficient in gathering data and technical requirements from cross-functional partners
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, identify trends, interpret metrics, and make data-driven decisions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Dataiku
  • Understands the pharmaceutical ecosystem including personas of providers, patients, payers, distributors, and policy makers
  • Experience with R and Spark programming languages
