Job Summary

The Madison Area YMCA seeks a highly skilled Group Exercise Coordinator to oversee the training, selection, supervision, and evaluation of Group Exercise Instructors. This role fosters an environment of professionalism and excellence while promoting the growth and development of all Group Exercise programming.

Main Responsibilities

  • Train Group Ex Instructors on the Group Ex Pro platform and host certification courses to recruit staff.
  • Supervise Instructors to ensure classes are safe, fun, and motivational.
  • Create and maintain accurate Group Exercise instructor schedules via the GroupEx Pro platform.
  • Teach Group Ex classes and/or Personal Training, not exceeding 10 hours per week.
  • Track and report usage statistics for all Group Exercise classes to inform program changes.
  • Coordinate with Directors to promote the Y Wellness 24/7 platform.
  • Monitor Instructor certifications & expiration dates and class equipment regularly.
  • Log and report equipment maintenance concerns to the Director.
  • Attend all staff meetings and coordinate ordering of class supplies.

Requirements

  • Hold a current group exercise certification from ACE, ACSM, NETA, AFAA, or equivalent.
  • Possess 3+ years of practical experience in health and wellness.
  • Enjoy building relationships with people and have previous supervisory experience.
  • Be proficient in windows-based programs, such as Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Able to receive and maintain CPR, first aid, AED certifications.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $35.00/hour (or higher based on experience). As a Group Exercise Coordinator at the Madison Area YMCA, you will work 30+ hours per week and enjoy the benefits of being part of a dynamic team dedicated to promoting healthy living.
