Job Title: Youth Swim Coach and Development Specialist
About the Job:
This position is responsible for coaching athletes 12 and under, developing their technique and strength development standards, and promoting mental, psychological, and physical growth.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coaching and Development: Develops athletes in all aspects of swimming, including mental, psychological, and physical development.
- Practice Planning and Execution: Prepares and implements specialized skill workouts as requested by the Head Coach, assists in coaching assigned groups, and demonstrates the ability to work with all ages.
- Maintenance of Accurate Records: Keeps accurate attendance and other records current and organized.
- Communication: Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and staff members in a positive and supportive manner.
- Teamwork: Maintains effective, positive relationships with members, participants, and other staff members.
Qualifications:
- Education and Certifications: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a coaching role, USA Swimming coaching certifications, and ASCA level II certification or equivalent.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong background in technique development, excellent interpersonal skills, and demonstrated commitment to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
- Working Conditions: Ability to withstand being in the water for long periods, must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds, and potential exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
