We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The successful candidate will be part of the Plant-Microbe Interfaces (PMI) Scientific Focus Area, which aims to advance our understanding of the complex interactions between plants and microbes.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct collaborative research on constructed microbial communities using systems comprised of defined bacteria.
- Characterize bacteria using high-throughput methodologies and identify phenotypic characteristics using a combination of computational and experimental techniques.
- Lead and contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts.
- Present research findings at national and international scientific meetings.
- Work independently to support interdisciplinary research efforts within the PMI project.
- A Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: microbiology, plant-microbe interactions, microbial physiology, comparative genomics, and use of bioinformatics tools.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever-changing needs.
