Position Overview

The Attending Physician is responsible for overseeing the medical management of various patient care programs. This role requires effective communication with medical staff, nursing, social work, and management to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducts medical examinations, evaluations, and assessments, providing diagnoses and treatment to patients. Ensures thorough documentation of all patient interactions, adhering to Medicare/Medicaid and third-party payer requirements.
  • Prescribes medications and treatment plans based on assessed medical conditions. Refers patients to specialists and coordinates care with nursing and support staff as necessary.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, focusing on continuous quality improvement and safety standards. Participates in medical staff meetings and relevant committees.
  • Engages in quality assessment and improvement initiatives to enhance patient care. Provides consultative services to other medical personnel regarding patient management.
  • Attends required meetings and educational programs to maintain professional competency. Collaborates with various departments in the clinical management of patients.
  • Contributes to the development and evaluation of the Quality Improvement Plan, identifying opportunities for enhancement. Respects patient rights and confidentiality at all times.
  • Complies with all relevant policies, laws, and accreditation standards, including HIPAA regulations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, demonstrating knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory procedures.
  • Maintains current knowledge of medical procedures and integrates this knowledge into practice.
  • Exhibits behaviors that reflect service excellence and core values of compassion, accountability, respect, and expertise.
Qualifications

Typically requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.

Education

A Doctorate in Medicine is required.

Licensure

A valid medical license in Florida is necessary, along with active DEA registration and board certification in Family Medicine or Meds/Peds. Additional specialty certifications are advantageous. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required upon hire, with maintenance throughout employment. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
