Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Specialist to join our team at the State of Kansas. As a Physician Specialist, you will provide on-site psychiatric and medical services to patients, including admitting, evaluating, and treating patients. You will also be responsible for entering required assessment, treatment, and discharge planning documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and participating in hospital-wide performance improvement activities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site psychiatric and medical services to patients
  • Admit, evaluate, and treat patients
  • Enter required assessment, treatment, and discharge planning documentation in the EHR
  • Participate in hospital-wide performance improvement activities
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to prepare court reports and attend court hearings as an expert witness
Requirements
  • Completion of medical school training
  • Completion of residency in Psychiatry in an approved training program, or at least two years of an approved residency training program
  • Current active medical license in Kansas
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of psychiatric and medical medications
  • Ability to work with other physicians and hospital staff
  • Ability to utilize technical skills such as typing and use of Dragon dictation
