Position Summary

The Quality Engineer I will serve as an individual contributor and subject matter expert in Quality Engineering. This role involves providing Quality Engineering support for quality investigations, risk management, engineering studies, specifications, projects, and supplier quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Utilizes standard engineering methodologies to design, analyze, test, maintain, repair, or enhance products, components, materials, manufacturing processes, and quality systems.
  • Conducts investigations into nonconformances to identify root causes, assess quality impacts, and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
  • Employs statistical techniques to analyze quality data, sampling plans, and the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Implements design specifications for products, materials, and components.
  • Establishes and maintains risk management documentation for manufacturing, quality systems, and data flow processes.
  • Develops protocols, executes, and reports findings for quality engineering studies.
  • Leads or assists in the execution of project assignments.
  • Provides support for supplier quality, including investigations and supplier/material qualifications.
  • Develops expertise as a subject matter expert in quality systems and manufacturing processes.

Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Basic understanding of relevant business practices and procedures in the professional field.
  • Ability to work under general supervision, relying on experience and judgment to achieve assigned goals.
  • Some judgment is required in problem resolution based on experience.
  • Regular interactions with direct supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Basic proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications; familiarity with statistical software (e.g., Minitab) is advantageous.
  • Foundational knowledge of quality systems and regulations, particularly in pharmaceutical, medical device, and electronic records/signatures quality systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel for business as needed; valid driver's license and passport required.

Desired:

  • Relevant industry/professional certification is preferred.
